We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented 'Studio Assistant' with expertise in lighting setup and management (gaffer responsibilities) and proficiency in prop setup and arrangements. The ideal candidate will play an essential role in ensuring each shoot is prepared and executed to the highest standard. This position requires technical lighting skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to manage and organize props to bring creative visions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Lighting setup & management (Gaffer duties):
1. Work closely with the director, cinematographer, and other creative team members to understand the lighting requirements for each shoot.
2. Set up, operate, and adjust lighting equipment to achieve the desired visual effects, including spotlights, floodlights, reflectors, and diffusers.
3. Monitor lighting quality during shoots, adjusting as needed to maintain consistency and optimal visual presentation.
4. Ensure safe handling and storage of all lighting equipment, cables, and related accessories, maintaining organization and accessibility.
5. Perform regular maintenance checks and minor repairs on lighting equipment as needed to ensure equipment readiness and longevity.
II. Prop setup & arrangement:
1. Collaborate with the production designer and art director to understand the prop requirements and desired aesthetic for each shoot.
2. Organize and manage props, ensuring each is in good condition, labeled, and easily accessible.
3. Set up props on set according to the shoot plan, ensuring accurate and visually appealing arrangements that align with the creative vision.
4. Perform periodic checks on props during shoots to maintain positioning and make adjustments as needed.
5. After each shoot, handle all props with care, managing clean-up and safe storage or return of all items.
III. Studio organization & maintenance:
1. Maintain an organized and clean studio space, ensuring all equipment and props are stored properly and accessible for future shoots.
2. Manage studio inventory for all lighting equipment, props, and other supplies, reporting any shortages or issues to management.
3. Assist with general studio setup and breakdown, including moving equipment and furniture, as required for different shoots and projects.
4. Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed, particularly regarding lighting equipment, power cables, and heavy props.
