About the internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities:

1. Design and develop electric vehicle powertrain systems, including electric motors and batteries
2. Perform CAD modeling and simulations for powertrain components using tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or UGNX
3. Support the testing and validation of powertrain systems, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards and performance requirements
4. Assist in component selection and analysis for weight optimization, durability, and cost-efficiency of the powertrain system
5. Contribute to the design documentation, including CAD drawings, technical reports, and specifications
6. Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation techniques to predict the structural behavior of powertrain components under different loading conditions
7. Assist in the prototype assembly and physical testing of the powertrain components and systems
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, to integrate powertrain systems with other vehicle subsystems
9. Participate in brainstorming and problem-solving sessions for innovative powertrain design solutions
10. Identify potential areas for design improvements, cost reductions, and performance enhancement
11. Liaise with testing agencies for certifications (ICAT, ARAI, etc.)

Other requirements

1. Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to support the design process

2. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or UGNX) and basic familiarity with FEA tools

3. Strong understanding of automotive powertrain systems

4. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

5. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality in design work

6. Cross functional team Interactions (design, development, manufacturing and supply chain)

7. Should have strong communication, presentation and technical decision-making skills

8. Work with a multidisciplinary team to integrate powertrain systems into vehicle designs & conduct testing/validations for powertrain systems

9. Prepare technical reports and documentation

10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

11. Keep up to date with the latest developments and trends in electric vehicle technology

12. Experience in CAE tools like ALTAIR, MATLAB, Simulink & Ansys is a plus

13. Experience in Formula SAE and BAJA SAE is preferred
