Purpose: This position will be responsible for supporting the geographic information systems (GIS) director in the ongoing operations of the GIS program, and designing and/or preparing graphic representations of GIS data. This position requires an employee to be flexible, multitask, think intuitively, use time management skills, and possess troubleshooting ability.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Create drawings and databases using GIS software and data collection equipment
2. Work on CAD/GIS software
3. Research the utilities (water/wastewater/storm) and base maps
4. Work on all kinds of maps, analyses, and reports
5. Present information to clients and stakeholders in verbal or written format
6. Build, manipulate, and update databases

3. Working towards a bachelor s degree (BA/BS) in geography, geographic information systems, or related field
