About Karan Puri Foundation
The Karan Puri Foundation is an 80G registered trust working for the welfare of stray and abandoned animals in Delhi for over 15 years. Karan Puri Foundation was started by my mom Arti Puri when she saw stray animals in the streets with no access to food, shelter, or medicine, and survived by scavenging leftovers from garbage bins. Strays in our country are solely dependent on the garbage and leftover food from restaurants and houses. In the wake of the pandemic, the frequent lockdown, market restrictions, closure of restaurants and food outlets there are little to no sources of food left for these stray animals. These dogs walk on super hot asphalt roads, looking at people passing by hoping for someone to give them leftover food. Her solution - a community kitchen that feeds fresh food to over 450 stray dogs and cats every night in the neighborhoods of South Delhi. This year we suffered a tremendous loss with her passing away due to Covid.
