About Bright Futures

Bright Futures (BF) is a vibrant community project for the children of the Ghazipur slum. There is the conventional slum. And a concrete slum above the dairies where the bright and beautiful children live. The children are often left to their own devices, dealing with neglect, heat, and poverty. Often fathers are alcoholics, mothers work long hours. And yet the children play, smile, and most of all really really want to learn. Our mantras are bringing them joy and happiness: 1. Through celebrations and activities like art and crafts, indoor games, picnics, movies, etc. 2. Building self-confidence and self-esteem through sports like football, swimming, and dance classes. 3. Widening their horizons, through field trips in all manner of directions. Like art exhibitions, book launches, networking events, theatres, bookshops, cafes, etc. 4. Enabling through education. Providing informal classes, supporting in exams, computer, and digital skills. Providing devices, books, etc.
